AFGHAN STORAGE BAG An old and unusually large bag with magnificent workmanship and weave on both front and reverse sides. It is complete with the original fastening loops and originates from the town of Labijar, which is in north west Afghanistan. There appear to be no similar pieces published. Reference 297. 154 x 96cms. €1,250.

KURDISH SADDLE BAGS A rare semi-antique inscribed pair from north west Persia, complete and intact, with a portrayal of a shepherd and his goats, together with the date "1370" (AD 1950) and an inscription believed to be the name "Mokham" on the reverse. Reference 239. Size 106 x 60cms. €450.

BELOUCH SADDLEBAGS A rare, antique collectors item. These finely woven bags are ebroidered on the reverse with rows of goats and peacocks. The bags are in excellent condition and complete with the original goat hair fastening loops. They are probably from a beloulch group near Herat in north west Afghanistan, athough I bought them in the bazaar in Quetta. Ref. 290 Size 105x42 cms Price €850.-

TURKOMAN TRIBAL BAG This was probably used as a purse and is composed of two Yamut camel knee decorations which have been joined together with overcasting of the same colour as that found in the pieces. The photos show both sides. The knotting is incredibly fine and equates to more than 200,000 per square metre. A similar example can be seen in "Animal Regalia" by Moira Broadbent on page 43. Reference 1863. 13 x 22cms. Euros 350.
